INTINERARY

Day 01 LIMA

You will receive assistance upon arrival to the Lima International Airport and a transfer via private coach to your hotel located in the Historical Downtown sector of the city. A rest at the hotel is recommended after such an exhausting journey. You will stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 02 LIMA AND SURROUNDINGS

In the morning, you will take a private guided tour of the historic "City of the Kings," including visits to some important sites such as the Plaza Mayor, Basilica Cathedral, Government Palace (external tour only), and sightseeing, with a panoramic view of the Plaza San Martin and Colonial Balconies of Lima.
This is followed by a private guided visit to the residential districts of San Isidro and Miraflores, the Central Park of Miraflores, and the Tourism and Entertainment Centre of Larcomar, symbol of modern Lima. This is the best place to enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. Next, you will visit the Museo Larco Herrera. This exhibition displays textiles, utensils, and tools used by ancient Peruvian civilizations in ceramic and metal works. It also holds a collection of ceramic ware that incorporates ornamentation of gold and silver with semiprecious stones ascribed to Pre-Inca and Inca civilizations. You will stay overnight at your hotel.

 

Day 03 LIMA - NAZCA – ICA

In the morning, you will depart from Lima aboard a private coach, driving south on the Pan-American highway along the Pacific. You will check in at your overnight hotel accommodation. Then you will take a small aircraft to observe the enigmatic Nazca Lines from the air. This starts with the topmost “line” and eventually encompasses the more impressive zoomorphic figures like the Condor, Monkey, Spider, Hummingbird and many other representations that date back more than two thousand years but have been preserved to the present day. You will spend the night at your hotel.

 

 

Day 04 ICA – BALLESTAS – LIMA

In the morning, we will travel briefly to the bay of Paracas to observe the great marine fauna consisting of sea lions, guano birds (gulls, petrels, cormorants and pelicans), and Humboldt penguins.  Another unique feature is the myriad of whimsical rock formations, sculpted by wind and water, which compose one of the most beautiful landscapes on the Peruvian coast. Along the way we will pass by the bay and observe the “Candelabro” – a gigantic figure, carved on the seashore in a similar fashion and bearing resemblance to the Nazca figures. Around 2 PM we will visit the Maria Reiche Museum. Then we will return to Lima by private bus and spend the night here.

 

 

Day 05 LIMA- AREQUIPA

In the morning, you will fly to the city of Arequipa by crossing over the western Andes. Arequipa sits at an altitude of 2,350 m and is known as the “Ciudad Blanca” (White City) due to the widespread use of “Sillar” (a type of volcanic rock) as an important building material in the city’s Colonial architecture. Your accommodation will be provided at a hotel in Arequipa.
In the afternoon, the tour includes a visit to the Convent of Santa Catalina, the most important religious monument conserved by the city. This is followed by a visit to the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, various Colonial churches, and the impressive cloisters of the Compañia church, colonial streets, and the Mirador district of Yanahuara. Later in the day, you will return and spend the night at your hotel.

 

Day 06 AREQUIPA – THE COLCA CANYON

In the morning, you will depart from your hotel and travel to the Colca Canyon. We will pass by Pampa Cañahuas (a Vicuña nature reserve). We will reach an altitude of approximately 4,800 m at a point know as “Patapampa Pass," from where we will have an extraordinary view into the valley of the Colca Canyon. Then we will arrive at the town of Chivay. You will receive accommodation at the hotel with a private bathroom. In the afternoon we will visit the local “thermal baths” of La Calera. Then you will return to the hotel.

Day 07 COLCA CANYON– AREQUIPA

In the morning, we will travel toward a spot called Cruz del Condor (Cross of the Condor), the deepest part of the Colca Canyon. There will be opportunity to observe several wild condors, and then we will visit some of the 14 villages of the area, such as Macca and Llonque. We will admire their beautiful churches which date back to colonial times. Other features in the area worthwhile visiting are the Inca terracing, some remarkable cave paintings, and the currently active Sabancaya Volcano. Then we will return to the town of Chivay. Later in the day we will return to the city of Arequipa and spend the night here.


Day 08 AREQUIPA – PUNO

In the morning, we will depart Arequipa and continue our voyage aboard private coach to our next destination, the city of Juliaca. Before reaching the city of Puno, we will visit the Archaeological Complex of Sillustani, located some 34 kilometers northwest of Puno on the shores of Lake Umayo. In this place, an ancient cemetery of both Colla and Inka civilization, we will contemplate the famous circular funerary towers known as "Chullpas" and enjoy the charming setting of this landscape. Then we will reach the city of Puno. In the afternoon, you will receive a guided tour of the Floating Islands of the Uros, located in the sacred Lake Titicaca. These islands are now inhabited by fishermen who exchange their products in homes constructed of Totora, an aquatic plant used to make crafts and to build boats. You will return to Puno and spend the night at your hotel.

 

Day 09 PUNO- TAQUILE--PUNO

In the morning, you will journey aboard motor boat to the island of Taquile, a beautiful place inhabited by people who have retained ancient customs, values, beliefs, and traditional dress. On Taquile Island you can enjoy the beauty of the Titicaca landscape, with its imposing snowcapped peaks of Bolivia’s Cordillera Real looming in the background. In the afternoon, we will return to Puno and you will spend the night in your hotel. 

Day 10 PUNO-CUSCO

In the morning, you will transfer to the tourist bus terminal, bound for Cusco.  Along the way we will visit the museum in Pukara. Around noon we arrive at a place called “La Raya” (“The Line”), the border and highest point between Cusco and Puno, at 4,335 m. Here you will observe the union of several mountain ranges (“The Knot”). This particular one is called “Nudo de Vilcanota.” Next, we will continue our journey to the town of Sicuani where will have lunch after a very enjoyable tour.
Then we will visit the archaeological complex of Raqchi, known as “Temple of the God Wiracocha.”
After a brief car ride we will reach the village of Andahuaylillas, renowned for its church of San Pedro Apóstol. The richness and great amount of beautiful paintings on the walls have led it to be called “The Sistine Chapel of Peru.” Later in the day, you will arrive in the city of Cusco and spend the night at your hotel.


Day 11 CUSCO- CITY TOUR

In the morning, you will visit the Basilica Cathedral which is situated on the Plaza de Armas. You will also visit the Qoricancha where once upon a time there was a great Temple of the Sun on top of which the Spaniard built the Church and Convent of Santo Domingo. Everything in Cusco is of great beauty.
In the immediate surroundings of Cusco we will visit archaeological monuments such as the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, the mysterious subterranean temple of Q’enqo, the watch post of Puca Pucara, and the ritual baths of Tambomachay. Later in the day you will have time to rest and spend the night at the hotel.

Day 12 CUSCO - SACRED VALLEY

valle sagrado d elos incas You will take a morning excursion to the Sacred Valley, visiting the town of Pisac and its colorful traditional market where you can purchase an array of handicrafts made by local artisans. Then we will visit the ruins of Ollantaytambo and observe the huge complex of administrative, agricultural and religious functions. Here you can see large rock walls, temples and palaces. You will spend the night in Ollantaytambo.

 

 

 

Day 13 OLLANTAYTAMBO - MACHUPICCHU

machupicchu-maravilla del mundoIn the morning, you will travel by train to the town of Aguas Calientes. We will arrive at the hotel and then take a quick bus to the entrance of the Citadel of the Incas, Machu Picchu, discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911. There, you will take a guided tour through the main buildings of the city including the lookout, Temple of the Three Windows, Main Square, the Intihuatana, Temple of the Sun, and more. After a bit of free time to enjoy Machu Picchu, you will return to Aguas Calientes and spend the night in the Hotel.

 

 

Day 14 MACHUPICCHU - CUSCO

In the morning, you will have free time. In the afternoon, you will take the tourist train back to Cusco and will receive accommodation at a hotel in Cusco.

Day 15 CUSCO- FREE

It is advisable to have a free day in order to see and appreciate the city, its cobblestone streets, Inca palaces, churches, monuments, and museums.

Day 16 CUSCO - LIMA

In the morning you will be taken to the airport and will fly back to Lima. After being taken to your hotel, you will have the option of visiting the world-famous Gold Museum of Peru to see valuable objects of gold produced by goldsmiths of the Pre-Inca cultures of Chavin, Mochica and Chimu. You will also see extraordinary ceramics, mummies and funerary bundles.

Day 17 LIMA - LIMA OUT

In the morning you will be taken to the Jorge Chavez International Airport. “End of the services.”
