COLCA CANYON

DESCRIPTION

The Colca Canyon, with more than 1 kilometer from cliff-edge to river bottom is considered the deepest in the world. It has a pictoresque pre-inca terracing, impressive scenery and friendly Indian villages (e.g. Chivay) with traditionally dressed peasants. If you are lucky, you will be able to see the famous Peruvian Condors at just a couple of meters from where you are. Unforgettable and impressive.

Day 1.AREQUIPA-CHIVAY

In the morning, you will depart from your hotel and travel to the Colca Canyon. After this we head to the West Andes travelling across the National Reserves of Salinas and Aguada Blanca. You will need to be prepared for the next stage as we travel across the Patapampa Pass (4912m) and what better way to prepare and try the mountain’s very own energy drink. The tea from the Coca Leaves has revitalising qualities that will have you feeling fresh and energized for this beautiful walk that ends with the relaxing hot springs of La Calera. Overnight at the hotel in Chivay.

Day 2. THE CONDOR-THE COLCA CANYON-THE PREINCA TERRACES

condor-kuntur-canioncolca-ave-peru This day an early start, but you will soon be wide awake as you watch the majestic Condors making their first flights of the day. After breakfast we start our journey - travelling across the beautiful Pre-Inca terraces. As well as enjoying the spectacular scenery, you will also have the chance to meet the charming Collahua people before arriving at the Colca Canyon (the world’s deepest Canyon!). Later in the day we will return to the city of Arequipa.
